Clauses bases on SVO pattern followed by an adverbial

In English, certain clauses, if based on subject + verb + object (SVO) pattern, due to the type of verb they have in them, are incomplete and grammatically incorrect. To remedy this, an adverbial is added to the end of the clause. The SVO ( subject + verb + object ) clause pattern becomes SVO + adverbial, or subject + verb + object + adverbial, then.

Examples

Let's take a look at some example clauses based on SVO + adverbial pattern now.

He took his dog to the vet.

She wrote the letter quickly.

The teacher explained the concept in great detail.
